Dorothy Dobbie is the founder and president of Pegasus Publications Inc., publishers of the Local Gardener magazines, The Hub, Lifestyles 55, Smart Biz and several other directories and publications.
A former member of Parliament (1988-1993), Dorothy Dobbie served as parliamentary secretary in several portfolios including Indian Affairs and Northern Development, Consumer and Corporate Affairs and the Environment. She co-chaired the Dobbie-Beaudoin Joint House-Senate constitutional committee on the Renewal of Canada and spoke to the United Nations as part of her many duties.
Yasmin migrated to Canada from the Philippines in 2010 bringing with her 10 years of experience working in an advertising agency. With her background in marketing and proficiency in social media, she now enjoys her work at Pegasus updating and maintaining all of the different websites and social media accounts.
It all started a while ago, when she was a student and on the University of Manitoba paper, with a phone invitation from the Winnipeg Free Press to become their campus correspondent. After that, journalism, and often the Free Press, had her in its grip. The Free Press hired her three more times, and in betweenthere was the CBC and Observer Foreign News Service in Europe (on the production side),the Montreal Star, Ottawa Citizen and (on a twice-a-week, freelance basis) Southam News Services, in Montreal and Ottawa, and most recently Pegasus Publications, with work on its Gardeners, Lifestyles and The Hub.
Derek Gagnon is the editor of the Smart BIZ and Manitoba Aerospace & Aviation magazines with Pegasus Publications.
Derek is a devout sports fan, and his first writing experience came in this category, as a writer with the Arctic Ice Hockey blog. He later became managing editor of the blog, which covers the Winnipeg Jets of the NHL.
Karl oversees the design of all of Pegasus Publications’ various publications. With 25 years experience in the Winnipeg publishing industry since graduating from the University of Manitoba's School of Art, I have previous experience working on Uptown Magazine and Canstar Community News, a division of the Winnipeg Free Press.
Jane Zhong runs our office with efficiency, a welcome smile and easy-going manner. As Accounting & Administrative Manager, she takes care of all our day to day financial needs, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Tax Payable, Payroll & Payroll Liability, Banking, Accounts Reconciliation, Financial Statements, etc. She is the one who looks after our subscription database and is responsible for company's administrative duties. She is the first person to welcome our clients and subscribers, whether it's at the door or over the phone.
Gord has a strong background in business development with marketing and sales experience gained in a number of industry sectors including tourism, manufacturing, environmental technology, internet marketing and real estate. In a volunteer capacity he served on Travel Manitoba’s Industry Advisory Committee and Manitoba Fisheries Enhancement Fund’s Project Review Committee. He has also been a board member of Fish Futures Inc Manitoba, The Royal Lake of the Woods Yacht Club and spent thirteen years on The Winnipeg Art Gallery board including three years as President.
Grant Nordman has been in the Sales, Marketing and Management business most of his adult life. He even served two terms as a City Councillor that often included selling the merits of the City of Winnipeg. In Grant’s own words, “I’m excited to join the team of sales professionals at Pegasus Publications Inc. and to offer their quality products.” Having been both an owner of a small business and a business association manager Grant has a great understanding of the advertising opportunities and needs of today’s business community.
